Project Description: The City of Phoenix (COP) is engaged in a long term program to upgrade the local water distribution system in older neighborhoods. CVL prepared drawings and construction details from topographical and utility information, in coordination with WH Pacific, our partner on this project. Undersized water lines were replaced with 6-inch minimum lines and any water lines in alleyways were relocated to the street.

Special Considerations:

• The proposed improvements were designed to meet the latest COP standards for pipe material, service location, fire hydrant location and in line valve spacing.

• Neighborhood meeting and public participation support was provided by generating drawings and figures showing the work.

• Utility conflicts minimized by incorporating as built/record drawings from all wet and dry utilities in the construction plans. Potholing was recommended at critical locations to determine the depth and location of key utilities such as gas lines and large storm sewers to avoid costly conflicts during construction.
