Ch’ooshgai Community School Lagoon
Sewer Treatment Facility
Tohatchi, New Mexico
Project Description: The Ch’ooshgai Community School in Tohatchi, New Mexico operates a 3-cell sewage lagoon system to treat wastewater from the school and associated housing. An 8-acre lagoon system was built in the mid 1960′s and needed upgrades to meet the latest US EPA and Navajo Nation EPA groundwater protection rules.
CVL designed a 60-mil HDPE liner system and new delivery lines between the existing cells. These improvements benefited the client by bringing the facility into compliance with EPA regulations. It also allowed for more flexibility in the operation of the cells, thereby increasing overall treatment efficiency.
