Pioneer Museum

Regional Cultural Destination

Flagstaff, Arizona

Services Provided:  Civil Engineering, Land Planning

Project Description: Located outside Flagstaff, along an historic pioneer route to the west, this 3-acre site boasts some of the oldest and most significant examples of early pioneer construction, three being listed on the National Register.  Decades of collection expansion and generous donations of pioneer artifacts, structures, and equipment led to programming, storage and organizational deficiencies.

The Arizona Historical Society retained the team of CVL and WRL to provide a comprehensive master plan for the site that will transform this local museum into a regional cultural destination, and waypoint along the highly traveled route to the Grand Canyon.  Recommendations included phasing and implementation strategies, partnerships with local cultural organizations, and site expansion.  Future phases will include building assessment, architectural and structural services.
