Rick has more than 42 years of land surveying experience with 21 years of field experience. In the last 10 years, Rick has been overseeing over 350 construction staking projects, 320 property boundary surveys, and over 300 ALTA surveys. Under his direction, surveyors will be assigned to obtain topographical field work or boundary survey and research. His current emphasis is on horizontal and vertical controls for large mapping projects, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, office calculations, research, and legal descriptions.
Tim has over 25 years of experience in project and portfolio management, site planning, and landscape architectural design for residential developments, roadways, public parks, resorts, golf courses, and mixed-use developments. Beyond his technical practice experience, Tim has been a leader within CVL focused on operations within the company, including team collaboration, innovation, training, quality control, and efficiency improvements across our work and deliverables.
As the Director of Landscape Architecture, Tim oversees the lead designers and production managers for all of the landscape related items, including planting design, irrigation design, site furnishings, gateway signage, and pedestrian circulation, as well as public outreach related to these areas of expertise. His residential/commercial project experience includes over 230 locations, such as the Ritz Carlton Mixed-Use development and Coconino Resort. Tim has extensive experience designing public parks for the Phoenix-metro area, including over 15 parks for the City of Chandler, the award-winning West World Trailhead for City of Scottsdale, Flood Control Facilities Landscape Aesthetics and Assessment for FCDMC, and multiple projects for ASU.
In his role as Chief Operating Officer, Tim coordinates with our in-house services to develop best practices that guide our processes and ensure high-quality engineering, planning, and site design. In addition to the daily business operations, Tim supports our HR team in ongoing professional training, is active in business development for the company, and manages our integrated Project and Portfolio Management platform.
Carolyn Both is Financial Officer and Human Resources Manager of Coe & Van Loo Consultants, Inc. (CVL), is a member of the firm’s Executive Team, and serves as Secretary/Treasurer for the corporation. Carolyn joined CVL in 1985 as an Accountant; was promoted to Controller, then Director of Accounting, and then Financial Officer in 2017. She leads the financial functions of the firm and guides the accounting, administration, contracts, legal, and human resources operations.
Carolyn is a Certified Public Accountant, a graduate of Arizona State University, and an active member of various charities, including St. Vincent de Paul which inspires people to make positive contributions to society.
Curt has over 35 years of experience with master planning, conceptual planning and visioning, implementation planning, conceptual design, and final platting, as well as 35 years working on ASLD projects. Curt works with entitlement plans, land use and zoning, commercial and resort planning, hillside development, development review boards, design guidelines, and feasibility studies. His primary focus has always been to bring all the necessary elements together from a regulatory, design, stakeholder, and site perspective to create an individual community or large-scale master plans that can progress from concept through design and implementation.
Curt has worked on a wide and diverse range of projects from small infill parcels to 24,000 acre master plans. His work has been in both the private sector and public sector including design, entitlements, and project management. Curt has also been involved with cost-benefit analysis, which studies the efficiency of current designs and provides workable solutions to reduce infrastructure costs or increase project value.
Ryan became President of CVL in January 2015, previously holding the title of Executive Vice President. As the President, Ryan manages the daily operations of CVL and provides structure and proper resources. His knowledge in the implementation, planning, design, and construction of water/wastewater, civil, survey, and landscape architecture projects provides an in-depth background for scoping guidance and quality control of deliverables. Ryan has a BS in Civil Engineering, from Northern Arizona University, Cum Laude, 1997, and has over 24 years of experience in civil engineering design. His rapid and accurate response to requests has made him a trusted ally to many clients. Ryan is accustomed to handling fast-paced schedules, unique client demands, value-added solutions, and meeting agency requirements. His leadership expertise includes collaborative government relationships, various regulatory matters, and helping comprehensive teams think creatively to solve problems in ways that benefit both communities and clients.
