Oil & Gas Pipeline Design

Various locations in the West

Project Size: Various

Project Description:  CVL Consultants provides design and field surveying for oil & gas pipelines.  Design services include design of bored crossings of major rivers, streams, and irrigation ditches, route selection, plan and profile design for pipelines in congested urban corridors and railroad rights of ways, permitting and processing, and re-location design for existing pipelines. Surveying services in this sector have included route topography surveys, aerial mapping of pipeline corridors, right of way research and mapping, and ALTA surveys of existing facilities.

In Commerce City, Colo., CVL designed a 3.5-mile, 6”-diameter gas pipeline from a refinery to an existing tank farm. The route was through an urban area that was extremely congested with other utility lines.  Design included horizontal, directional drilling of a crossing under a major drainageway at the Sand Creek & Interstate-76 highway bridge.

Other work has included design and permit processing for a pipeline crossing of a major irrigation ditch in Adams County, Colorado, and the relocation of an existing gas pipeline in Thornton, Colorado. To address the proposed extension of a retail center and arterial roadways, CVL coordinated as-built surveys, design of the relocation, and permit processing.

Oil & Gas Well Design and Permitting

Various locations in the West

Project Size: Various

Project Description: The Niobrara Shale is a shale rock formation stretching beneath Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming.  Oil and Natural Gas can be found deep below the earth’s surface at depths of 3,000 – 14,000 feet.  Companies drill these wells vertically and even horizontally to get at the Oil and Natural Gas in the Niobrara Formation.

CVL successfully initiated and obtained a wavier during the County Commission land use hearing process to permit a monitoring well in the Niobrara Shale Formation in northeastern Colorado. This allowed for immediate drilling of a monitoring well and met the client’s development and production schedules.

CVL has prepared State Well Drilling Permits and associated exhibits for COGCC well permits 2 and 2a for Tebo 32-2 oil and gas well sites. In addition, CVL has prepared “Use by Special Review” (USR) applications and processed approval though County Commission hearings for multiple oil and gas wells in the Niobrara formation.
